Deli Duties
- Prepare and serve hot and cold food in line with Spar UL standards
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation at all times
- Complete HACCP checks, including temperature records and cleaning schedules
- Ensure all food is fresh, correctly labelled, and within shelf life
Health, Safety & Store Standards
- Follow all health & safety procedures, particularly in busy delivery and customer areas
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment at all times
- Be aware of risks in shared campus spaces (e.g., loading bay and delivery areas)
- Adhere to store rules including:
- No entry with sports equipment (balls, hurleys, etc.)
- Customers must remove helmets, hoods, and headphones at tills
- Children must be supervised by a parent/guardian during busy event periods
Teamwork & Flexibility
- Work as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Support colleagues across all areas of the store when required
- Be flexible with working hours, particularly during term time peaks and quieter summer periods
Seasonal Considerations
- Term Time: High-volume trading with peak demand during lunch hours
- Summer Period: Reduced staffing levels requiring flexibility and strong teamwork
- Event Periods (e.g., campus tournaments): Increased footfall including younger customers, requiring extra attention to safety and store rules
Skills & Requirements
- Previous retail or deli experience is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good attention to detail, particularly in food safety and hygiene
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible
