We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Hatchery Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the hatchery, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and biosecurity are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, grade, and handle hatching eggs with care.
- Operate hatchery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor incubation and hatching processes.
- Vaccinate, count, and prepare chicks for dispatch where required.
- Clean and sanitise hatchery equipment and work areas.
- Follow strict hygiene and biosecurity procedures.
- Record production data accurately.
- Report any equipment faults or animal welfare concerns promptly.
- Assist with general hatchery duties as directed by supervisors.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in agriculture, poultry, or a hatchery is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
