Dromcollogher and District Respite Care Centre
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, skilled, and compassionate Chef to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for our 15 residents in a warm and intimate respite home setting. The ideal candidate will work as part of a close-knit team, with a flexible roster alongside another chef to ensure continuous, high-quality meal service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals that meet dietary needs and preferences of residents, including special dietary requirements.
- Plan menus in collaboration with the care team, ensuring balanced and varied nutrition.
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety, complying with all regulations.
- Manage kitchen supplies and inventory, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste.
- Communicate effectively with residents to accommodate preferences and allergies.
- Foster a positive and supportive kitchen environment, working collaboratively with the other chef and care staff.
Roster:
- Flexible working schedule; alternating weekly between 4 shifts one week and 3 shifts the next.
- Work in partnership with another chef on the opposing roster.
- Weekend and bank holiday shifts included, with additional shift allowances.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a chef, preferably in healthcare, care home, or similar settings.
- Knowledge of nutrition requirements for elderly or vulnerable individuals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Friendly and patient demeanor, with an understanding of the needs of respite home residents.
- HACCP certification or willingness to complete HACCP training
