Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Audio Visual Installation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the professional installation, commissioning, and support of commercial audio visual systems across a wide range of client sites.
This role is suited to someone with strong practical installation skills, a good understanding of AV technologies, and the ability to work confidently on-site as part of a project team. You will be expected to deliver high-quality installations, maintain professional standards, and ensure systems are completed on time and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, test, and commission audio visual systems including displays, projectors, video conferencing systems, control systems, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, signal distribution equipment, and rack-mounted hardware.
Read and work from technical drawings, schematics, cable schedules, and project documentation.
Carry out cable pulling, containment work, equipment mounting, rack building, termination, labelling, and system testing.
Install and configure AV equipment from leading manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, Logitech, Yealink, Poly, Samsung, LG, and similar platforms.
Support commissioning engineers and programmers during system setup, testing, and handover.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues during installation and post-installation support.
Ensure all installations are completed to a high standard, in line with project specifications, health and safety requirements, and company procedures.
Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, project managers, consultants, and other trades on-site.
Maintain accurate records of completed works, snagging items, equipment changes, and site progress.
Represent the company professionally at all times and help maintain strong client relationships.
Required Skills and Experience
Previous experience in commercial AV installation or a similar technical installation role.
Strong understanding of AV signal flow, cabling, connectors, rack systems, audio systems, display technologies, and video conferencing equipment.
Competence with cable termination, including CAT6/6A, HDMI, audio, speaker cable, control cable, and structured cabling standards.
Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment schedules.
Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and access equipment safely.
Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering neat, reliable installations.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well with clients and colleagues.
Full clean driving licence preferred.
Desirable Skills
Experience with control systems such as Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, or AMX.
Experience with DSP platforms such as Biamp, Q-SYS, Shure, or Bose Professional.
Knowledge of Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and video conferencing environments.
Safe Pass, Manual Handling, MEWP, Working at Heights, or other relevant site certifications.
Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing, VLANs, PoE, and device configuration.
Experience with rack building, testing, and offsite pre-build work.
