Hours
Full-time (39 hours per week), with flexibility to work evenings and weekends in line with club fixtures, club events and retail trading requirements.
Role Overview
Cobh Ramblers FC is seeking an ambitious, commercially driven individual to lead the club's commercial activities while managing the day-to-day operation of the club's official merchandise shop in Cobh town centre and all club team’s kit and training requirement needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing commercial revenues, strengthening partnerships with local businesses, growing the club's retail offering and enhancing the overall supporter experience. This is a hands-on role combining business development, retail management and fan engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Development
- Develop and implement the club's commercial strategy.
- Identify and secure new sponsorship and partnership opportunities.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing sponsors, ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Maximise commercial revenues through sponsorship, advertising, hospitality and events.
- Prepare commercial proposals, presentations and sponsorship packages.
- Work alongside the club's media team to maximise sponsor exposure.
Retail & Merchandise Management
- Manage the daily operation of the club's official merchandise store including staff roster management.
- Deliver an excellent customer experience for supporters and visitors.
- Manage stock levels, ordering, supplier relationships and inventory control.
- Develop new merchandise ranges in collaboration with suppliers.
- Manage the order and distribution of all club team’s playing and training requirements.
- Monitor sales performance and recommend new retail initiatives.
- Coordinate online and in-store product launches.
- Ensure visual merchandising standards remain high throughout the year.
- Manage matchday retail operations where required.
Business Development
- Build strong relationships with local businesses throughout Cobh and the wider area.
- Develop new revenue streams through partnerships, licensing and retail initiatives.
- Identify grant opportunities and commercial funding where appropriate.
- Assist with planning fundraising events and club initiatives.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage retail budgets and monitor commercial income.
- Produce regular sales and commercial performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures.
- Work within agreed budgets while identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
Marketing & Fan Engagement
- Support marketing campaigns across social media, website and email.
- Help deliver fan engagement initiatives and club events.
- Assist with matchday activations and sponsor hospitality.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience in commercial sales, sponsorship or business development.
- Retail management experience.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proven ability to negotiate and close commercial agreements.
- Organised with strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience within football or professional sport.
- Knowledge of merchandising and stock management systems.
- Experience managing e-commerce platforms.
- Marketing or social media experience.
