Residential Social Care Worker – Children’s Services (Carrick-on-Shannon)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Social Care Worker to join our children’s residential service located in Cootehall (10 minutes from Carrick-on-Shannon, 35 minutes from Sligo).
Our organisation provides high-quality, trauma-informed residential care for children and unaccompanied minors seeking international protection. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where young people can grow, heal, and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care and support to children in a residential setting
- Build positive, professional relationships with young people, families, and external professionals
- Contribute to a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment
- Support young people in developing life skills, education goals, and personal aspirations
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and care documentation
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and care plan development
- Adhere to all organisational and regulatory policies and procedures
- Work as part of a team within a 24-hour residential service, including evening and weekend shifts
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- A recognised qualification in Social Care or equivalent (Level 7/8 Social Care, Level 8 Psychology, Level 7 Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Counselling, Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching, Nursing, Addiction Studies)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
Desirable:
- Experience working with children in residential care
- Full driving licence
- Training or experience in trauma-informed or attachment-based practice
