Cleaning and Hygiene Associate
Location: Ballymaloe Foods, Little Island, Co. Cork
Hours: Part-Time (Afternoon Shift, approximately 1:00pm - 5:00pm) Some flexibility in working hours is possible.

We are currently seeking a Cleaning and Hygiene Associate to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on cleaning and sanitising production lines, equipment and factory areas to the highest standards. The position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys following clear procedures and is willing to learn.
Previous experience in food manufacturing is not essential as full training will be provided.
Role Purpose
The Cleaning and Hygiene Associate plays a key role in maintaining the hygiene and food safety standards of our manufacturing facility. The majority of the role involves carrying out detailed cleaning of production lines and equipment in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The successful candidate will work closely with Production and Quality teams to ensure all cleaning activities are completed safely, thoroughly and consistently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Line Cleaning
Carry out cleaning and sanitisation of production lines, machinery and equipment in accordance with detailed SOPs.
Follow cleaning schedules and work instructions to ensure all tasks are completed to the required standard.
2. Complete daily, weekly and deep-cleaning activities as required.
3. Dismantle and reassemble equipment safely following cleaning procedures.
4. Ensure production areas, equipment and surrounding workspaces are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
5. Identify and report any issues relating to equipment condition, hygiene or food safety.
Hygiene & Food Safety
Follow all food safety, hygiene and quality procedures.
Support the site in meeting customer, regulatory and audit requirements.
Assist with hygiene verification activities, including visual inspections and swabbing programmes where required.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the facility.
Documentation & Record Keeping
Complete cleaning records, checklists and associated documentation accurately.
Ensure all records are completed in a timely manner and are audit-ready.
Report any deviations or concerns to the Quality Manager.
Health & Safety
Handle and store cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with company procedures.
Follow all health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
Wear and maintain required PPE.
Promote safe working practices and a positive approach to hygiene and cleanliness.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
Work collaboratively with Production, Quality and Maintenance teams.
Assist in training or supporting new team members where required.
Suggest improvements to cleaning methods, procedures and workplace organisation.
Contribute to maintaining Ballymaloe Foods' culture of quality, food safety and continuous improvement.

Desirable but Not Essential
Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, hospitality, healthcare, food production or a similar environment.
Experience working with SOPs, checklists or quality standards.
Understanding of food hygiene and food safety practices.
Full training will be provided for the right candidate.
