Job Description:
A General Operative supports the day-to-day running of a retail shop, deli, and coffee shop by providing excellent customer service, preparing food and beverages, maintaining high standards of hygiene, and ensuring shelves and displays are fully stocked and presented. The role requires flexibility, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare and serve deli food, sandwiches, salads, and hot food according to food safety standards.
- Prepare and serve coffee, tea, and other hot and cold beverages.
- Operate the cash register and process customer payments accurately.
- Replenish shelves, fridges, and displays with stock.
- Monitor product freshness and rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the shop, deli, coffee area, and customer seating.
- Follow food safety, health and safety, and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Receive deliveries and assist with stock storage and inventory checks.
- Handle customer enquiries and resolve issues professionally.
- Work as part of a team to meet daily operational and customer service goals.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a busy retail environment.
- Basic cash handling and till operation experience.
- Knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices (training or certification is an advantage).
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable Experience:
- Previous experience in retail, deli, café, coffee shop, or hospitality.
- Experience preparing food and beverages.
- Experience using EPOS/till systems.

Pay: €9.91-€14.15 per hour
