We are looking for a skilled Quotations Manager to join our rapidly growing metal fabrication business in Inishowen.
In this role, you will analyze unique, one-off designs, engineering drawings, and structural blueprints to build accurate, profitable cost models. You will know how to bridge the gap between creative concepts and practical shop-floor production.
Core Responsibilities
- Analyze Bespoke RFQs: Deconstruct custom Requests for Quotes (RFQs), architectural drawings, CAD models, and hand sketches for unique projects.
- Develop Custom Cost Estimates: Calculate material yields, labor hours, and machine run-times.
- Consult on Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Work with clients and internal engineers to suggest material or design tweaks that lower costs without losing design intent.
- Determine Project Timelines: Estimate accurate lead times based on the complexity of custom builds and current shop floor capacity.
- Maintain Pricing Databases: Update raw material market rates, specialized labor costs, and hardware pricing within our system.
- Manage Subcontractors: Source and negotiate specialty external services like steel ordering, laser tube cutting, powder coating, galvanizing etc.
Required Skills & Experience
- Custom Fabrication Background: 3+ years estimating, structural steel, or bespoke industrial equipment.
- Blueprint Expertise: Advanced ability to read and interpret complex weldment drawings, architectural plans, and 3D CAD files (SolidWorks or AutoCAD).
- Material Knowledge: Deep understanding of diverse metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass) and their specific fabrication behaviors.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to accurately estimate pricing for complex items that have never been built before.
- Tech Literacy: High proficiency with metal fabrication ERP/MRP software and advanced Excel spreadsheet modeling.
