Sales Development Representative — Outbound Telesales & Email Prospecting
Location: Office-based, Co. Mayo or remotely
Reports to: [Sales Director / Business Development Manager]
Works alongside: Field sales / Business Development team
Package: Base salary + performance bonus tied to qualified meetings [confirm figures], [pension, benefits]
Role Purpose
The core function of this role is simple: generate qualified meetings for the field sales team.
Working from our Mayo office, you will run high-volume outbound prospecting by phone and email to identify, contact and qualify new prospects across Ireland — primarily in manufacturing and pharma — and book them into the diaries of our field sales people. You are the front end of the sales engine: the field team turns up to meetings because you put them there.
This is an outbound role. You will not be waiting for inbound enquiries — you will be proactively reaching out, opening conversations and creating opportunities from a cold or warm start.
Key Responsibilities
- Make a high volume of outbound calls each day to targeted prospect accounts
- Run structured email prospecting sequences to support and complement calling activity
- Research and identify the right contacts within target companies (EHS, procurement, operations decision-makers)
- Qualify prospects against agreed criteria before booking — so the field team’s time is well spent
- Book qualified meetings into the field sales team’s calendar — this is the primary measure of success
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all activity, contacts and outcomes in the CRM
- Build and manage targeted call/email lists alongside the sales team
- Follow up diligently on prior conversations, nurturing prospects until they are ready to meet
- Hand over qualified opportunities cleanly, with proper notes and context, to the field team
- Hit and report on weekly activity and meeting targets
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Number of qualified meetings booked (primary KPI)
- Outbound call volume and connect rates
- Email outreach volume and response rates
- Meeting show rate / meetings that convert to opportunities
- Pipeline contribution from booked meetings
- CRM data quality and accuracy

- Good listening and questioning skills to qualify prospects properly
- Comfortable working to targets and being measured on results

- Previous experience in outbound telesales, telemarketing, SDR/BDR or lead generation
