Holbein Carpentry & Joinery is looking for a talented and driven Design & Manufacturing Technician to join our growing design and manufacturing team.
This role is primarily focused on the technical design and development of bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture, combining creative design with advanced parametric modelling and modern manufacturing technology.
We are looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, understands how furniture is manufactured and is excited by the opportunity to develop smarter, more efficient ways of taking a project from client concept to finished product.
- Develop detailed, production-ready designs for bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture.
- Produce accurate manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Build, develop and maintain parametric components and reusable design libraries within SWOOD.
- Work directly with clients to understand their requirements and translate their ideas into practical technical solutions from enquiry to installation.
- Develop designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability and cost.
- Work closely with the workshop and production team to ensure designs translate successfully into manufacture.
- Support the development of CNC-ready manufacturing information and efficient production processes.
- Identify potential design or manufacturing issues early and develop practical solutions.
- Continuously improve our design systems, parametric libraries and methods of working.
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong experience in SolidWorks and SWOOD.
- An understanding of kitchen and fitted furniture design and construction.
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients.
- A proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of projects.
- An understanding of how technical design decisions affect manufacturing, CNC production and installation.
Experience in bespoke kitchens, fitted furniture, furniture manufacturing, CNC production or technical joinery detailing would be a strong advantage.
This role is about thinking beyond the drawing. We want someone who can look at a design and understand how it will actually be made, assembled, transported and installed.
You'll work closely with clients, designers and our manufacturing team to develop solutions that look right, work properly and can be produced efficiently. You'll also have the opportunity to help shape how we use parametric design and digital manufacturing across the business.
The Interview
The interview process will include a practical parametric modelling exercise based around a kitchen or fitted furniture component. You'll be asked to demonstrate how you approach the modelling process and how you would develop a component so that it can be adapted and reused across multiple projects.
We're interested in how you think, not just how quickly you can produce a drawing.
Why Join Us?
Holbein Carpentry & Joinery is developing a modern, technology-driven manufacturing operation while maintaining the quality and craftsmanship associated with bespoke furniture.
You'll be joining a team where design, technology and manufacturing work together, with the opportunity to develop your skills and have a genuine influence on how we design and manufacture our products.
