As a Hygiene Operative, you will play a key role in keeping our production environment clean, safe and compliant. You will ensure all equipment, floors, production areas and facilities meet hygiene and food safety standards so that our products are produced in a safe, high quality environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Hygiene Tasks
- Carry out daily and deep cleaning of production lines, equipment, walls, floors, and shared areas.
- Follow all Cleaning Instruction Cards and hygiene checklists.
- Safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to training provided.
- Ensure all hygiene activities meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (HACCP, Health & Safety).
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure areas are cleaned to the required standard before production restarts.
- Support positive release of equipment back to production following cleaning.
- Report any issues relating to hygiene, cleanliness, or equipment to the supervisor.
- Follow the “clean as you go” policy throughout the shift.
Teamwork & Operations
- Work as part of the hygiene and broader production team.
- Support supervisors and the Hygiene Team Lead with tasks as needed.
- Complete all required hygiene paperwork accurately and on time (e.g., checklists, chemical usage forms).
Essential
- Ability to follow hygiene, health & safety and food safety procedures.
- Good attention to detail and strong awareness of cleanliness and standards.
- Willingness to work in a fast paced, hands on environment.
- Flexibility to work in different areas as required.
Desirable
- Experience in hygiene, cleaning, food production or industrial environments.
- Manual Handling and Hand Hygiene certificates (often held by applicants).
- Experience using cleaning chemicals or industrial cleaning equipment.
