Job Summary:
As a Care Assistant at CARITAS, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients. You will provide personal care, emotional support, and companionship, helping our clients maintain their independence and dignity. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, according to each client’s individual care plan.
- Assist with daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding, medication reminders, and mobility support.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive and caring environment.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Assist with shopping, errands, and other tasks as needed to support clients in their daily lives.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided, reporting any changes in client conditions to supervisors.
- Collaborate with the care team and family members to ensure that each client’s needs are met.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines, to ensure the well-being of clients and staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Relevant QQI/FETAC Level 5 Healthcare Award, including “Care of the Elderly” and “Care Skills” modules.
- Up-to-date Manual and Handling Course certification.
- Garda vetting
- Work references from your last two jobs
- Police clearance from your country of origin (if not from the EU ).
- Completion of a One-day induction course provided by CARITAS.
- Previous experience in a similar care role is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- A compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine desire to help others.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is a plus, depending on the location.
