We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fabricator / Truck Body Assembly Technician to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and fitting truck bodies and components to a high standard, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in all work carried out.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and assemble truck bodies, including curtainsiders, flatbeds, tippers, and box bodies.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
- Measure, cut, weld, and fit steel and aluminium components
- Install body components such as side panels, doors, floors, and fixtures.
- Operate workshop machinery including saws, drills, welders, and fabrication tools.
- Carry out quality checks to ensure finished products meet company standards.
- Assist with repairs, modifications, and refurbishments of existing truck bodies.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health & safety regulations.
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, or truck body assembly (preferred).
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Experience working with steel and aluminium.
- MIG/TIG welding experience highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Manual handling capability and physical fitness for workshop duties.
- Full driving licence (advantageous but not essential).
Desirable Skills
- Experience in commercial vehicle body building.
- Mechanical or engineering background.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, electrics, or vehicle systems.
- Forklift or workshop machinery certification.
