Swim Coach / Swimming Instructor
Location: Avena Leisure, Sligo

Pay: €16 - €18 per hour
About the Role
Avena Leisure is looking for an enthusiastic, professional and reliable Swim Coach / Swimming Instructor to join our Avena team in Sligo.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe, engaging and high-quality swimming lessons to swimmers of varying ages and abilities. You will help participants develop their swimming skills, confidence and water safety awareness while creating a positive and enjoyable pool environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging swimming lessons to children across a range of abilities.
- Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs and abilities of individual swimmers.
- Teach and develop swimming technique, water confidence and aquatic skills.
- Promote water safety and good poolside practices.
- Monitor swimmers closely and maintain a safe teaching environment at all times.
- Provide encouragement, constructive feedback and support to swimmers.
- Maintain a professional and positive relationship with swimmers and parents/guardians.
- Follow Avena Leisure's health, safety, safeguarding and operational procedures.
- Keep appropriate records of swimmer progress where required.
- Work collaboratively with the wider leisure team.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant swimming teaching/coaching qualification.
- Strong swimming ability and sound knowledge of swimming techniques.
- Experience delivering swimming lessons or coaching swimmers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, patient and encouraging approach.
- Ability to work effectively with children and adults of different abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe environment.
- Current Garda Vetting / willingness to complete Garda Vetting, where applicable.
- Current first aid qualification is desirable.
Days & Times
- Tuesdays,Wednesdays, Saturdays
- 4pm - 6pm Mid week
- 8am - 1pm Saturdays
Report to Swim Manager: Ciaran
Pay: €16.00-€18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
