The Quality Control Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining quality control procedures across all stages of the plastics recycling process. This includes the inspection and verification of incoming loads, in-process material quality, and finished recycled products to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Incoming Material Quality Control
- Inspect and verify incoming loads to ensure conformity with material acceptance specifications
- Identify and document contamination including non-plastic materials
- Record inspection results and maintain traceability of material.
- Reject non-conforming materials in accordance with internal procedures.
- Conduct routine quality checks during sorting, washing, shredding and pelletising operations
- Monitor process parameters that impact material quality
- Escalate inconsistencies and initiate corrective actions where required.
- Perform inspection and testing of recycled plastic flakes
- Maintain batch records, test results, and quality documentation for traceability and audit purposes.
- Approve, hold, or reject finished product batches based on compliance with quality criteria.
- Ensure all quality activities comply with procedures established under the organisation’s ISO 9001 framework.
- Support internal audits, external audits, and customer audits.
- Participate in root cause analysis for non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Maintain controlled documentation, inspection reports, and quality records.

Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of plastics recycling technologies and processes.
- Experience in quality control within manufacturing, recycling, or plastics processing environments.
- Strong understanding of plastic polymer identification and contamination risks.
- Experience working within a documented quality management system.
- Competence in quality documentation and traceability systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Comply with requirements under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
- Follow all plant safety procedures and use appropriate PPE.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Ensure quality inspection activities are conducted safely in an industrial processing environment.
