Windmill Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join the leadership team at Windmill House Care Centre, Churchtown, Mallow, Co. Cork.
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with strong clinical and leadership experience who is passionate about delivering person-centred care and supporting excellence in residential elder care.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Nursing and Person in Charge, the Assistant Director of Nursing will support the overall clinical, operational and quality management of the centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of care, governance, compliance and staff development while promoting a culture of dignity, respect and compassion for all residents.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Director of Nursing in the day-to-day management of the care centre.

Provide effective clinical leadership and professional support to nursing and care staff.

Ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with best practice, HIQA Standards and regulatory requirements.

Assist in maintaining compliance with the Health Act 2007, associated regulations and all relevant legislation.

Monitor clinical quality indicators, audits and improvement plans.

Support the management of complaints, incidents, safeguarding concerns and risk management processes.

Promote a positive culture of learning, continuous improvement and accountability.

Participate in staff supervision, performance management, recruitment and retention initiatives.

Assist with workforce planning, roster management and resource allocation.

Support the implementation of Windmill Healthcare policies and procedures.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.

Act in the role of Person in Charge in the absence of the Director of Nursing where required.
Essential Requirements

Active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Minimum three years' post-registration nursing experience.

Previous management or supervisory experience within a residential care setting.

Strong knowledge of HIQA regulations, standards and inspection processes.

Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

Proven ability to motivate and develop teams.

Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

Eligibility to work in Ireland.
Desirable
-
Management qualification in healthcare management, nursing management or a related discipline.

Experience preparing for and participating in HIQA inspections.

Knowledge of quality improvement and clinical governance frameworks.
