Lead Project Planner / Scheduler – Construction Phase (Onsite, Limerick)
This onsite role leads planning and scheduling for major pharmaceutical construction projects in Limerick, combining technical excellence, team leadership, and strong project controls capability.
Role Overview
Jacobs’ Life Sciences team in Limerick is seeking an experienced Lead Project Planner to oversee all planning and scheduling activities during the construction phase of a large scale pharmaceutical project. This is a site based role, working closely with project management, engineering, construction, and subcontractor teams to ensure accurate, timely, and integrated project planning. You’ll bring deep expertise in pharmaceutical construction, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive high quality planning outputs in a fast paced, multi disciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning function — Manage and mentor a team of planners, ensuring consistent, high quality schedule development and reporting.
Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project, ensuring alignment with engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
Interpret engineering deliverables — Review drawings, design packages, and technical documents to accurately sequence and integrate work.
Run Interactive Planning sessions and coordination meetings, driving collaboration and clarity across disciplines.
Interface with subcontractors to validate schedules, progress, and resource plans.
Implement earned value reporting and progress measurement systems to track performance and forecast outcomes.
Support project controls including tender and contract milestone alignment, change evaluation, and extension of time assessments.
Collaborate in a multiuser P6 environment ensuring data integrity, version control, and coordinated updates.
Engage with Last Planner processes to support short term planning and constraint management.
Contribute to 4D BIM integration where applicable to enhance visual planning and sequencing.
Here's what you'll need
Minimum 10 years’ experience in planning and scheduling on major construction projects.
Strong pharmaceutical project background, ideally in highly regulated environments.
Proven experience leading or working within a team of planners.
Excellent technical capability in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and deliverables.
Strong understanding of contracting interfaces, including tender milestones, contract milestones, and EoT evaluations.
Demonstrated ability to chair planning meetings and drive alignment across stakeholders.
Experience establishing and managing earned value progress systems.
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and MS Office Suite.
Experience working in a multiuser P6 environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Familiarity with Last Planner methodologies.
4D BIM experience is an advantage but not essential.
Strong understanding of design deliverables and subcontractor mobilisation processes.
