As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an Automation / Electrical Support Technician to join our team based in South Dublin.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop a career in industrial automation while gaining exposure to modern control systems, electrical installations, PLCs, SCADA systems, instrumentation, and industrial networks.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Automation Engineer, the Automation / Electrical Support Technician will support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial automation and electrical systems at customer sites throughout Ireland.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, gaining valuable hands-on experience across a wide range of technologies and industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of automation and electrical systems.
- Support troubleshooting and fault-finding activities on PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
- Carry out electrical panel modifications, wiring, and testing activities.
- Assist with system upgrades, maintenance shutdowns, and site support activities.
- Perform preventative maintenance and health checks on automation equipment.
- Support the preparation of technical documentation, test records, and commissioning reports.
- Work with customers and internal project teams to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Participate in site surveys and project planning activities.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and support activities performed.
RequirementsEssential
- Electrical Trade Qualification, National Craft Certificate, or relevant Engineering qualification.
- 1–3 years' experience in industrial electrical, automation, maintenance, or related fields.
- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems and control panels.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Eligibility to work in Ireland (EU Citizen or existing valid work permit).
Desirable
- Experience with Siemens PLCs and TIA Portal.
- Experience with industrial instrumentation and sensors.
- Familiarity with SCADA and HMI systems.
- Knowledge of industrial communications such as Profinet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, or Modbus.
- Experience working in pharmaceutical, food & beverage, manufacturing, or utilities sectors.
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and other relevant site certifications.
