The Night Sky makes personalised star maps and jewellery — the sky exactly as it looked on the night that mattered to someone. We sell direct to consumer in over 40 countries.We're a small team based in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.
The role
This is the finance function, and it will be yours to run. You'll report to the founder. We use Xero to manage accounts and are very comfortable with AI assistance to reduce a lot of the overhead.
- Monthly close and management accounts
- VAT & Tax Preparation and Filing
- AP, banking and card reconciliation
- Balance sheet reconciliations
Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with 3–5 years post-qualification experience
- You've owned a monthly close end to end, not just contributed to one
- Solid Irish VAT knowledge — you can look at a supplier invoice from a US software company and know how it's treated without looking it up
- Comfortable in Xero, and fast in Excel or Sheets
- Happy working without a finance team around you. You'll be asking your own questions and answering most of them.
Nice to have
- Multi-currency experience, ideally in e-commerce or retail
- OSS or cross-border VAT exposure
- Stripe or PayPal reporting
- Any experience automating the parts of a close that don't need a human
The practical details
- 2.5 days a week, contract. We're flexible on which days and on school hours - tell us what works and we'll build around it, with the caveat that the first week of the month is the busy one.
- Hybrid. Two of the three days in our Dublin office would be ideal, especially in the first few months.
- 25 days' annual leave, pro rata.
Pay: €35,000.00-€40,000.00 per year
