Job description – Agricultural Science Officer
Job purpose: The Agricultural Science Officer will work with Agri Aware to co-ordinate and deliver educational material in both written and verbal formats for Agri Aware’s educational programmes. The Agricultural Science Officer will be a highly competent and confident communicator with teaching experience in agricultural science or biology. The role will also include the curation of lessons, teaching resources and administrative duties for existing educational programmes.
Location: Agri Aware follows a hybrid working structure with both remote and in office work. The Agri Aware office is based at the Irish Farm Centre, Naas Rd, Drimnagh, Dublin 12.
Key Responsibilities:
· Co-Lead the delivery of the Ag Science Coordinator programme, Intro to Ag and Farm Safety Programmes.
· Develop and review educational content annually on the programmes, incorporating feedback and updates from teachers, the LOETB team (funders of the Intro to Ag programme) and the Department of Education
· Co-ordinate and develop agricultural education programmes
· Research topics and prepare age-appropriate lesson plans
· Assist in the creation of educational resources for secondary school students
· Support the delivery and running of the Farm Walk & Talk event series and related TY events
· Assistance at Agri Aware events and workshops including giving informational talks and presentations, leading school groups and educating the general public on farming practices and the importance of farming.
· Attendance at events, as required, with evening and weekend work. These will be compensated with Time Off In Lieu.
· Assist with administrative duties for all educational programmes, as required.
Essential Requirements:
· A full clean driver’s licence
· Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills
· Ability to work on your own initiative
· Experience working with young people and/or groups
· Strong written communication skills
· Willing and able to adapt to different levels of consumer knowledge and a dynamic working environment.
· Minimum 3 years teaching or educational experience in Agricultural Science or Biology

Pay: €50,000.00-€53,000.00 per year
