The Great Southern Killarney has a wonderful opportunity for a passionate Conference & Banqueting Floor Manager, who will play a key operational leadership role within the newly appointed 5-star Great Southern Killarney. Reporting to the Conference & Banqueting Manager, this role is focused on supporting the C&B manager to achieve the smooth day-to-day execution of all conference, banque and event operations across the hotel.
The Floor Manager will take ownership of floor operations during events and service periods, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, seamless communication between departments, and consistently high standards reflective of a luxury 5-star property.
This is a hands-on operational role suited to an experienced hospitality professional with strong, attention to detail, the ability to stay calm under pressure and a passion for delivering exceptional events and guest service.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operational running of all conference and banqueting events across the hotel.
- Ensure all event spaces are fully prepared, presented and operationally ready prior to guest arrival.
- Manage and coordinate room flips, resets and turnaround schedules efficiently and to 5-star standards.
- Maintain strong visibility on the floor throughout all events and service periods.
- Ensure all event timelines and service sequences run smoothly and professionally.
Food & Beverage Service Oversight
- Support the delivery of seamless dinner service for weddings, conferences, gala dinners and private events.
- Monitor food presentation, quality and timing in collaboration with the kitchen team.
- Ensure drinks reception stations, bars and service points remain fully stocked, clean and well presented at all times.
- Act as the main operational link between service staff, kitchen and management during live events.
- Anticipate operational challenges and resolve issues proactively and discreetly.
Team Leadership & Standards
- Supervise conference & banqueting staff during service and event execution.
- Provide guidance, direction and support to team members on the floor.
- Ensure all staff deliver warm, professional and attentive 5-star guest service.
- Lead by example in presentation, professionalism and guest interaction.
- Assist with training and mentoring staff in service standards and operational procedures.
Guest Experience
- Ensure all guests receive an exceptional and memorable experience throughout their event.
- Handle guest queries and operational concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain excellent attention to detail across all event spaces and guest touchpoints.
Operational Coordination
- Work closely with:
- Conference & Banqueting Manager
- Kitchen Team
- Events team
- Accommodation and maintenance departments
- Ensure clear communication between all departments before and during events.
- Assist in maintaining health & safety, HACCP and hotel operational standards at all times.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 2–3 years experience in conference & banqueting or hotel food & beverage supervisory/management role or alternatively just be eager to learn & be a part of an amazing team.
- Strong operational and organisational skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and service standards.
- Flexible to work longer days 3 or 4 days a week to make up 39hrs. This would consist of evenings, weekends and busy event periods.
