Role:
We are currently seeking a motivated Junior Health & Safety Officer to join our team and develop their career within the construction industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently completed a qualification in Occupational Health & Safety and is looking to gain practical, hands-on experience working on construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day implementation of site Health & Safety requirements.
- Carry out regular site safety inspections and report any issues identified.
- Assist with the preparation and review of RAMS, risk assessments and other safety documentation.
- Support site management in maintaining high standards of Health & Safety.
- Assist with site inductions and toolbox talks.
- Monitor the use of PPE and compliance with site safety procedures.
- Help maintain Health & Safety records, registers and inspection documentation.
- Assist with the management and filing of statutory inspection records and certificates, including GA1, GA2, GA3 and AF3 forms, where applicable.
- Maintain and monitor site permit systems, including hot works permits, excavation permits, ladder permits and other relevant permits.
- Assist in ensuring plant, lifting equipment, scaffolding and other equipment have the required inspections and certification in place.
- Follow up with subcontractors to obtain outstanding Health & Safety documentation, certificates and inspection records.
- Assist with maintaining site registers, inspection sheets, training records and other compliance documentation.
- Assist with the reporting and investigation of incidents, near misses and safety observations.
- Work closely with subcontractors and site teams to promote safe working practices.
- Support senior Health & Safety personnel with ongoing safety initiatives and improvements.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualification or relevant studies in Occupational Health & Safety or demonstrable experience in similar role in construction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organised with good attention to detail.
- An interest in developing a career within the construction industry.
- Comfortable working as part of a site-based team.
- Willingness to learn and develop their Health & Safety knowledge.
- Knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation would be beneficial but full support and mentoring will be provided.
