Salary: €50,000–€60,000 per year, depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week. No Sunday trading and no late evenings.

Direct reports: Electrical Department Manager & Purchaser, Assistant Manager, Team Leaders, and store staff
About the role
We're looking for an experienced General Manager to take full ownership of the day-to-day running of our hardware and appliance superstore. Trading under both the Topline and Euronics banners, with a busy shop floor, a warehouse operation, and a growing nationwide online business, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can keep operations smooth, efficient, and profitable while developing a strong team.
You'll be the senior on-site leader, working closely with the directors and overseeing everything from staffing and rotas to customer service, cost control, and health and safety. You'll also line-manage the Electrical Department Manager & Purchaser, who owns buying and pricing for the electrical side of the business.
A genuine work-life balance: unlike most retail leadership roles, this role includes no Sunday trading and no late evenings , so you can lead a busy store without sacrificing your evenings and Sundays.
Key responsibilities
OPERATIONS
● Manage the day-to-day operations of the business, ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable performance
● Oversee the shop floor and warehouse operations
● Manage staff rotas and scheduling to match trading demands
● Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the store
● Manage maintenance and facility needs, equipment upkeep, and safety inspections
COMMERCIAL PERFORMANCE
● Own and drive overall store sales targets across all departments
● Work to budgets, control costs, and contribute to P&L performance
● Oversee overall store and online performance, including the contribution of the online business to overall sales
PEOPLE & LEADERSHIP
● Lead, supervise, and develop staff to deliver exceptional customer service and consistent standards
● Line-manage all Managers, the Assistant Manager, Team Leaders, and staff
● Manage hiring and dismissals, working with HR on process and compliance
● Handle training and performance management across the team
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION
● Monitor cash handling and ensure proper controls
● Liaise with the Admin and Accounts departments
● Collaborate with the directors on strategy and reporting
CUSTOMER & COMPLIANCE
● Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally
● Oversee health and safety across the store, including regular safety inspections
Requirements & skills
● Leadership & team management: proven track record in supervising diverse staff, training, and performance management
● Operations expertise: strong ability to oversee all daily activities, from opening to close
● Financial acumen: experience with budgeting, cost control, and basic P&L knowledge
● Customer service orientation: commitment to high standards and customer satisfaction
● Problem-solving mindset: calm under pressure with effective decision-making
● Communication: clear, positive communication with staff, suppliers, and customers
● Adaptability: ability to manage changing demands and busy peak periods
● Experience: previous general manager, operations manager, or senior retail leadership role preferred
DESIRABLE
● Experience in the appliance, electrical, or hardware retail sector
● Familiarity with EPOS systems and e-commerce / online order operations
● An interest in AI and automation, and how they can improve store and online operations
