Role: Health and Safety Officer
Location: Dublin / Hybrid
Reporting To: Health and Safety Manager
Terms: Specific Purpose Role - 12 month contract
Salary Range: €50,569 - €65,442
Job Purpose:
Assist in health and safety and fire safety inspection, audit and review programmes for Respond's new and existing housing developments in line with current legislative and best practice health and safety and fire safety requirements. Work with the health and safety team in supporting Respond departmental teams in their implementation and management of health and safety and fire safety requirements across national work and service locations.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the implementation and continual improvement of Respond's health, safety and wellbeing management system and arrangements.

Carry out internal inspections and audits across Respond departments and services nationally to monitor compliance with our own internal health, safety and wellbeing framework, fire safety framework and statutory requirements. Prepare inspection and audit reports.

Carry out health and safety and fire safety compliance inspections on new apartments / houses / developments for the social housing and cost rental markets prior to handover from Developer to Respond.
- Carry out health and safety, fire safety and emergency response management inspections in existing Respond apartments, offices and community buildings nationally. Support internal departmental teams in management of same.

Prepare site specific and task specific risk assessments as well as, support line managers and their teams in the development, implementation and monitoring of site and task specific risk assessments.

Assist in the ongoing monitoring and review of Respond's digitalised risk assessment management system.

Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture throughout the organisation and assist in driving continual improvement in health, safety and wellbeing through communication and consultation with management and staff, elected Safety Representatives and the Health and Safety Committee, as well as external stakeholders where required.

Deliver health and safety as well as fire safety talks and training programmes for line managers and employees across Departments and Services.

Any other duties which are consistent with the role of Health and Safety Officer.
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
Degree qualification in health and safety, or relevant and recognised equivalent eg: fire safety, construction safety.
A minimum of three years' work experience in a workplace health and safety role.
Thorough understanding of Irish health and safety and fire safety legislation and experience in the application of same.
Proven ability in conducting H & S and Fire Safety property inspections and audits and producing written reports, developing work task and work environment specific risk assessments.
Technical Skills/Attributes:
Knowledge in preparation of Emergency Response Procedures for Buildings / Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans.
Knowledge of workplace fire safety management requirements.
Project management capability.
Full clean drivers licence and own car for work related travel mainly along the East Coast and throughout the Midlands
Essential Skills and Behaviours:
Excellent communication skills both in written and spoken word.
Exceptional organisational, time management, interpersonal and motivational skills.
Proven ability to collaborate with line managers and their teams to build effective. partnerships and ensure compliance.
Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
Strong IT Skills particularly in MS Excel and MS Word.
