Clerkin Veterinary Hospitals are seeking a practical and enthusiastic Practice Manager to support the day-to-day operation and continued development of our Virginia Hospital and Cootehill practice.
Established in 1991, We are a busy mixed practice with a specialised small animal hospital providing orthopaedic, soft tissue and routine care, alongside a thriving large animal practice. It’s a fast-paced environment, and we are proud of the supportive, family-like atmosphere within our team.
Working closely with the practice and wider veterinary team, the Practice Manager will help create structure, consistency and clear communication across both locations.
Responsibilities may include:
- Coordinating staff rotas, annual leave and day-to-day staffing requirements
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews and staff development
- Overseeing reception, appointment systems and the overall client journey
- Supporting accounts administration, invoicing, payments and credit control
- Managing stock, ordering, suppliers and purchasing arrangements
- Coordinating practice logistics
- Maintaining appropriate HR, health and safety, compliance and audit procedures
- Employing practical systems that improve communication and workflow across both practices
- Supporting our positive, accountable and genuinely enjoyable working environment
We are looking for someone who:
- Has management, operations or senior administrative experience
- Is highly organised and comfortable making decisions
- Communicates clearly and handles sensitive matters professionally
- Understands the demands of a busy, client-facing workplace
- Is confident with learning our administrative computer financial systems
Previous experience in veterinary practice, healthcare or another busy service-based business would be advantageous, although management experience and the right personal fit are most important.
This will be a visible, hands-on management role. Occasional front-of-house support may be required, but its primary focus will be managing people, systems and operations rather than functioning as an extended reception position.
The full-time role is currently based on a 40-hour week; however, part-time hours, flexible arrangements and different working patterns will be considered for the right candidate.
The successful applicant may choose Virginia as their primary base, although a presence across both practices is required.
Salary will reflect experience, responsibilities and agreed hours. All applications will be treated confidentially.
