We are currently recruiting for a versatile Technical Services Technician to join our team. This is a comprehensive, hands-on role requiring an adaptable professional capable of managing both core estate facilities and clinical equipment maintenance to ensure the highest standards of safety for patients and employees throughout the hospital.
Clinical Equipment Care: Carry out routine maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and repairs on medical and clinical equipment to ensure strict regulatory compliance and operational readiness.
Facilities & Utilities Maintenance: Execute an intensive planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme across the building, plant and utilities.
Systems Infrastructure: Maintain and monitor electrical infrastructure, building management systems (BMS), backup generators, emergency power systems and fire alarms.
Mechanical & HVAC Services: Perform fault-finding and repairs on critical plant equipment including air handling units (AHUs), chillers, boilers and plumbing systems.
Rapid Fault Resolution: Respond dynamically to breakdown calls, diagnosing and solving complex mechanical, electrical and technical issues to minimise clinical downtime.
On-Call Rotation: Participate in the departmental out-of-hours on-call roster to provide emergency maintenance cover and ensure continuous hospital operations.
Qualifications: A recognised Mechanical/Electrical Trade Qualification or a specialised Biomedical/Clinical Engineering qualification with strong cross-skilling.
Technical Experience: Proven experience as a maintenance technician, ideally within a healthcare or high-tech regulated environment.
Versatility: Demonstrated ability to work across diverse systems, from heavy plant utilities to delicate clinical/medical hardware.
Skills & Attributes:
o Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving capabilities.
o Excellent PC, digital logging and reporting skills for maintenance tracking.
o Highly numeric with meticulous attention to detail and asset management.
o An energetic individual with the drive, enthusiasm, and adaptability required for a fast-paced hospital environment.
