Our Public Sector client is currently recruiting for an Energy Project Manager to join their team in Tullamore.
This is an initial 1-year contract role which offers great scope for extension and future permanency.

Responsibilities
-
Manage client interests in Minor Works and Maintenance programmes, with a focus on energy and carbon reduction.

Optimise estate value and ensure best value for money in project delivery.

Monitor construction programmes and cost plans to minimise impacts from variations.
-
Plan and supervise execution of major and minor capital works, particularly related to energy and carbon upgrades.
-
Assist in preparing briefs and budgets for capital projects.
-
Manage minor works lists, select contractors, and recommend tenders for acceptance.
-
Ensure compliance with EU procurement rules and financial regulations.
-
Supervise staff and contractors during project implementation.
-
Provide technical support to estates and service personnel.
-
Support implementation of Energy Efficient Design across all projects.
-
Assist Property Manager with property management strategies and plans focused on energy and carbon targets.

Ensure property transactions meet statutory and energy compliance.
-
Assess infrastructure conditions including upkeep, space utilisation, and security.
-
Help develop plans and contracts for maintenance programmes.
-
Define equipment/building requirements focusing on maintainability and efficiency.

Recommend maintenance contract awards and work with selected contractors.

Prepare maintenance budgets and resource plans.
-
Ensure buildings and equipment are maintained as per approved programmes.
-
Ensure compliance with regulatory permissions and safety requirements.

Coordinate fire safety and environmental risk procedures with relevant officers.
-
Evaluate building performance and seek continuous improvement.
-
Maintain working knowledge of HIQA Standards and comply with relevant protocols.

Advise on facilities and environmental matters, including legislative compliance.

Promote sustainability and low-carbon initiatives.
-
Support Energy Officers in developing retrofit project pipelines and securing funding.
-
Manage design, procurement, and delivery of energy-focused minor capital works.

Collaborate with Green and Energy Teams and the Regional Energy Bureau.

Embed energy management best practices into everyday operations.
-
Provide professional guidance in Energy Efficient Design and decarbonisation.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree (level 8) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainable Energy Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy, electrical or mechanical engineering, ideally within a consultancy. Ideally across healthcare projects.

Demonstrated expertise in managing capital projects, budgets, and cross-disciplinary teams.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
-
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
