IT Administrator

Role Purpose
The IT Administrator will provide day-to-day technical support across the business, ensuring employees, systems and IT equipment operate effectively and securely. The role involves resolving user issues, maintaining hardware and software, managing user accounts and supporting the continued development of the company’s IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line and second-line technical support to employees.
- Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, mobile devices, printers and other IT equipment.
- Create, manage and remove user accounts, permissions and access rights.
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Support Microsoft Entra ID, Intune and device-management activities.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and connectivity issues.
- Prepare IT equipment and system access for new employees.
- Complete access removal and equipment recovery for departing employees.
- Install, configure and update business software and operating systems.
- Maintain accurate IT asset, licence and equipment records.
- Support cybersecurity controls, antivirus systems, backups and system updates.
- Assist with ERP and other business-system support, including Epicor where applicable.
- Liaise with external IT providers and software suppliers when required.
- Maintain IT procedures, user guides and technical documentation.
- Support IT improvement, security and digital-transformation projects.
- Ensure all IT activities comply with company policies and data-protection requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in an IT support, helpdesk or systems-administration role.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Windows-based environments.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software and networking issues.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to support users with different levels of technical knowledge.
- Ability to manage several support requests and priorities at the same time.
- A professional and confidential approach when handling company and employee information.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Azure or SharePoint.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, backup and disaster-recovery practices.
- Experience supporting an ERP system such as Epicor.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Knowledge of IT asset management and software licensing.
