About the Role
We are a well established local bakery in Ennis, Co. Clare, and we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Chef to join our team and help run our café kitchen.
Our café offers a range of freshly prepared lunch options including sandwiches, toasties, soups, salads and daily specials. We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing quality food, enjoys working in a busy environment and can bring their own ideas to the kitchen.
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys having responsibility and wants to play an important role in developing and maintaining the food offering of our bakery.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the café kitchen.
- Prepare and serve a range of fresh, high-quality sandwiches, toasties, soups and other lunch options using a variety of our sourdough breads
- Prepare weekly specials and contribute ideas for new dishes and seasonal offerings.
- Ensure all food is prepared, presented and served to a consistently high standard.
- Manage kitchen preparation and ensure adequate stock is available for daily service.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation.
- Follow HACCP and all food safety procedures.
- Manage food stock, minimise waste and maintain good portion control.
- Work efficiently and calmly during busy periods.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional kitchen environment.
- Assist with ordering and stock control where required.
- Work closely with the café and bakery team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience working as a chef in a café, deli, restaurant or similar environment.
- Is confident preparing fresh food from scratch.
- Has a genuine interest in good-quality food and presentation.
- Can work independently and alongside other team members.
- Is organised, reliable and able to work at pace.
- Has excellent food hygiene and HACCP knowledge.
- Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a friendly team.
- Is comfortable coming up with ideas and helping to develop the café menu.
