About the Opportunity
A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an experienced (Electrically biased)
Commissioning Manager to join its Dublin-based project delivery team, initially supporting the successful delivery of a flagship
Hyperscale Data Centre.
Ideally coming from an
Electrical Engineering or Building Services background, you will take ownership of the full commissioning lifecycle, ensuring all electrical and mechanical systems are planned, coordinated, tested, commissioned, and handed over in accordance with client requirements, project specifications, and programme milestones.
Working closely with Project Directors, Construction Managers, Engineering Teams, Commissioning Authorities (CxA), Client Representatives, Vendors, Specialist Subcontractors, and OFCI teams, you will drive the successful execution of all commissioning activities from
Level 1 through Level 5.
The Role - Commissioning Manager (Electrically biased)
As
Commissioning Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all commissioning activities across the project, ensuring systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with commissioning plans, quality standards, and client acceptance procedures.
Commissioning Manager Responsibilities
- Lead the successful planning, coordination, and execution of all Level 1-5 Commissioning activities, including pre-functional inspections (L1), static testing (L2), pre-start-up verification (L3), functional performance testing (L4), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST), Seasonal Testing, and final client handover (L5), ensuring all systems are delivered safely, on programme, and fully compliant with client requirements.
- Manage and coordinate the commissioning of critical Electrical and MEP systems, including MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, busbar systems, BMS, EPMS, SCADA, lighting controls, fire alarm systems, mechanical plant, HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAH units, pumps, cooling infrastructure, and life safety systems, ensuring seamless integration across all disciplines.
- Develop and manage the Commissioning Plan, commissioning schedules, system turnover strategy, commissioning trackers, inspection and test plans (ITPs), method statements, risk assessments, issue logs, commissioning documentation, and handover records while coordinating with OFCI vendors, equipment manufacturers, Commissioning Authorities (CxA), consultants, and client representatives.
- Chair commissioning meetings, manage system walkdowns, punch list close-out, energisation planning, integrated testing, vendor management, and interface coordination between Electrical, Mechanical, CSA, QA/QC, BIM, Construction, Commercial, and Operations teams to achieve key project milestones.
- Monitor commissioning progress, identify programme risks, implement recovery strategies, manage resource planning, and provide regular reporting to senior management, ensuring successful client inspections, operational readiness, and final project acceptance while promoting best practice in Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Commissioning Excellence.
Necessary Requirements of the Commissioning Manager (Electrically biased)
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with 7+ years' experience as a Commissioning Manager, Electrical Commissioning Manager, Commissioning Engineer, Electrical Project Manager, Commissioning Lead, or Building Services Manager within Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Semiconductor, or Mission-Critical Construction environments.
- Proven experience leading Level 1-5 Commissioning on major construction projects, including electrical infrastructure, MEP systems, integrated systems testing (IST), energisation, commissioning planning, system turnover, and client handover, ideally on Hyperscale Data Centre projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of MV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, transformers, BMS, EPMS, SCADA, HVAC systems, commissioning methodologies, commissioning documentation, QA/QC, project controls, OFCI coordination, and construction sequencing, with experience working alongside hyperscale clients, Commissioning Authorities (CxA), consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent leadership, planning, communication, and stakeholder management skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Procore, BIM 360, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar project management and commissioning platforms.
