About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Stock & Operations Controller to join our busy Builders Providers operation based in Water Street in Cork City. The role will be based in the branch Security Hub / Operations Office, this role is responsible for stock control, administration, transport coordination, supplier returns, delivery scheduling, and ensuring the accurate movement of stock throughout the business.
The successful candidate will work closely with warehouse, yard, purchasing, sales, suppliers, and drivers to ensure efficient stock management and a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Control

Maintain accurate stock records and inventory levels across all product categories.

Carry out regular cycle counts and investigate stock discrepancies.

Monitor stock movements and ensure all transactions are processed accurately.

Liaise with purchasing and management regarding stock requirements and replenishment.

Analyse stock levels and identify slow-moving, excess, or obsolete stock.

Assist in annual stock takes and implement corrective actions where required.

Order stock in line with branch requirements and agreed stock holding levels.
Transport Coordination

Schedule and coordinate customer deliveries efficiently.

Plan and organise daily vehicle routes to maximise productivity.

Communicate with drivers regarding delivery schedules and changes.
-
Monitor vehicle movements and delivery performance.
-
Ensure all delivery documentation is completed accurately.

Liaise with customers regarding delivery times and service requirements.
Administration
-
Perform general administrative duties relating to stock, transport, and operations.

Process delivery dockets, purchase orders, and stock adjustments.

Maintain accurate records and filing systems.

Produce stock and transport reports as required by management.

Support operational processes within the branch.
Supplier Returns

Coordinate and process supplier returns in accordance with company procedures.

Ensure all returned stock is documented accurately.

Follow up with suppliers regarding credits and returned goods.

Monitor outstanding returns and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Delivery & Vehicle Checks

Verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and delivery notes.

Check delivery vehicles arriving and departing from the branch.

Ensure loads are correct, secure, and appropriately documented.

Work closely with warehouse and yard teams to resolve any delivery issues.

Support security and stock protection procedures within the hub.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
-
Previous experience in a Stock Controller, Inventory Controller, Transport Controller, Logistics Administrator, or Warehouse Administration role would be an advantage.

Strong administration and organisational skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and stock management systems.

Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience working with stock control processes and inventory management.
Desirable

Experience within a Builders Providers, Merchanting, Construction Materials, or Hardware environment.

Knowledge of transport planning and logistics operations.

Experience managing supplier returns and purchase orders.

Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential).

Experience using ERP or warehouse management systems.
