We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Cook to join our catering team in Curam Care Home Carrigaline.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about food and resident care and who is looking to develop their skills and progress into a Chef role within a supportive nursing home environment.
Working closely with our Head Chef, you will play an important role in supporting our residents by supporting the chef prepare nutritious meals, helping to deliver high-quality, resident-centred dining experiences, in line with food safety standards and company policies.
This role combines hands-on kitchen duties with responsibility for kitchen operations, food safety and service delivery in the absence of the Head Chef.
Requirements

Experience in a kitchen, catering or food service role
- Previous experience in the nursing home environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided
Strong understanding of (or willingness to learn) food safety and hygiene standards

Ability to work well as part of a team

A friendly, approachable manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively communicate and engage positively with residents, colleagues and visitors

HACCP or other food safety training is advantageous, however not essential as this training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef with the preparation, cooking, presentation, serving of meals for residents
Prepare vegetables, ingredients, and basic meal components to a high standard
Support the delivery of modified and specialised diets as required
Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation
Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and infection control procedures
Assist with stock control, food storage, and kitchen records
Work collaboratively with the wider care team to meet residents' needs
Step up to support or lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
Assist in organising daily kitchen operations and meal service
Support supervision of kitchen staff when required
