Warehouse Operative / Forklift Driver – Pallet Freight (Night Shift)

About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Warehouse Operative / Forklift Driver to join our busy pallet freight distribution depot in County Cork. This role involves handling palletised freight, loading and unloading trailers, and supporting yard operations to ensure freight is processed efficiently for overnight distribution.
This is a fast-paced environment requiring strong attention to detail, good teamwork, and a commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
Pallet Freight Handling
- Receive, scan, and sort palletised freight within the depot.
- Ensure pallets are placed in the correct loading areas for outbound routes.
- Check freight for damage and ensure correct labelling.
Trailer Loading & Unloading
- Load and unload articulated trailers and rigid vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Use forklifts and pallet trucks to move freight within the warehouse.
- Ensure trailers are loaded according to route plans and weight distribution.
Yard & Shunting Support
- Assist with yard operations and trailer positioning at loading bays.
- Support safe movement of vehicles within the depot yard.
- Communicate with drivers and transport team to coordinate trailer movements.
Freight Scanning & Tracking
- Scan freight using warehouse management systems.
- Ensure accurate freight tracking and correct routing within the pallet network.
Health & Safety
- Follow all warehouse and yard health and safety procedures.
- Operate forklifts and equipment safely.
- Always maintain a safe working environment.
General Warehouse Duties
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organisation.
- Support the warehouse team to ensure smooth nightly operations.
Requirements
- Based in County Cork not on bus route so car is essential.
- Valid Forklift Licence (essential).
- Previous experience in pallet freight, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred.
- Experience loading articulated trailers and handling palletised freight.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be available to work night shifts Monday – Friday.
- Legal authorisation to work in Ireland required.
