Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Librarian, the Part-time Library Assistant is a student-facing role based at the Reference Desk of the DBS Library and Academic Hub. The role's primary focus is to provide in-person and online reference and lending services to all Library users. Excellent customer service and flexibility are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Advise and assist Library users with queries regarding access to and searching of the Library’s collection of print and online resources, both in-person and online;
Processing and allocation of reservation requests;
Provide support to students using the Library’s online booking systems;
Assist students and staff with queries in person and via email, chat, and phone services;
Providing support to students and staff in the use of technologies such as self service machines, photocopier, Moodle, etc.
Ensure the physical library reading room and collection are tidy;
Assist the team with the development of support materials, including guides and webpages;
Complete the annual stock take in accordance with agreed procedures and timelines.
Carry out stock weeding and shunting activities to ensure collections remain accurate, relevant, and well organised.
Manage student accounts, including account creation, maintenance, and the administration of fines and charges.
Any other duties as required by the Library Leadership Team.
Prepare and produce the annual Library report for the Senior Leadership Team and the Library Leadership Team.
Participate in internal committees across the College, contributing to discussions, initiatives, and decision-making as required.
Complete any other tasks as requested by the Library Leadership Team.

Job Requirements (Essential Criteria)
Excellent IT and organizational skills;
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work on own initiative;
Availability to work evening shifts and weekend hours as required.
Job Requirements (Desirable Criteria)
Pay rate for this role is €14.15 per hour
