Role Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Junior General Operative to join our workshop team. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for someone with a great work ethic who wants to build a career in the electrical engineering or manufacturing sector.
You will predominantly be assisting our experienced technicians with the assembly of ATEX control stations and terminal boxes, while also providing backup support to our stores team. Because you will be working closely with our senior staff, this role offers excellent on-the-job training and a clear pathway for future growth into our engineering or technical sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Job Picking & Kitting: Read straightforward job sheets to gather the correct parts, wires, and enclosures needed for upcoming builds.
- Assembly Assistance: Work alongside our experienced panel builders to assist in the mechanical and basic electrical assembly of ATEX control stations and terminal boxes.
- Stores Support: Provide backup to our dedicated stores personnel, helping to log deliveries, put away stock, and keep the inventory organized.
- Workshop Upkeep: Help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment on the manufacturing floor.
- Continuous Learning: Take advantage of the training provided by senior staff to develop your technical knowledge of electrical components and systems.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Extensive experience is not required. We are looking for the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Hands-On Aptitude: You should be comfortable working with your hands and basic tools. (A background in a trade, technical hobby, or previous factory work is a bonus, but not strictly necessary).
- Team Player: You will be assisting others, so being helpful, reliable, and able to take direction is key.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy matters when picking parts for complex engineering jobs.
- Drive: A genuine interest in progressing your career within technical sales or engineering.
