General Maintenance Operative

About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hands-on General Maintenance Operative to join our team within the Atlas Autoservice Group.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance, repairs and upkeep across our premises, helping to ensure the workplace remains safe, clean, well-maintained and fully operational.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in maintaining high standards and is comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance and repairs throughout the premises.
- Complete basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry and building maintenance tasks where competent.
- Maintain workshops, offices, storage areas and external areas to a high standard.
- Carry out routine inspections and identify maintenance issues before they become major problems.
- Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of equipment, tools and facilities.
- Support the automotive team with general practical tasks as required.
- Keep work areas clean, organised and safe.
- Follow all company health & safety procedures and report hazards promptly.
- Liaise with management and external contractors when specialist repairs are required.
- Maintain appropriate records of maintenance work completed.
Carry out other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of the business.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities, construction, automotive or a similar hands-on environment.
- A practical, "can-do" attitude and good problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage day-to-day maintenance tasks.
- Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of their work.
- Strong awareness of health and safety.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A flexible approach and willingness to assist wherever required.
- A full clean driving licence is essential
- Relevant trade qualifications or experience in areas such as electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, mechanics or building maintenance would be advantageous.
