The Job in a nutshell
This is a dedicated onsite Project Manager role at a third-level university campus in Dublin. In this capacity, the successful candidate would take ownership of a varied and dynamic project portfolio, including:
Quoted works and minor projects
Reactive and fast-paced maintenance-driven works
Larger scale capital and infrastructure projects
These projects would typically span multiple disciplines, including Engineering services, Sustainable Technologies, General Construction, and Building Fabric upgrades and improvements.
This onsite role would suit a Project Manager who enjoys working closely with key stakeholders in a live operational environment, providing a visible and responsive service while driving project delivery across a broad and technically diverse estate.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Governance
o Deliver a range of construction and builtenvironment projects from initiation through to completion and handover.
o Identify and implement project governance, documentation, and reporting appropriate to the scale and complexity of each project ensuring efficiencies in delivery without compromising quality
o Manage projects by keeping adequate records of actions, risks, budgets and progress using tools such as MS Project or Monday.com.
o Maintain accurate and up to date project documentation.
Stakeholder & Client Management
o Work closely with clients to understand project requirements, expectations, and the defined scope of works.
o Identify and Manage design team consultants in Project design and delivery
o Act as the primary point of contact for project communications, updates, and issue resolution.
o Work cross functionally with internal stakeholders including operations, QHSE and finance teams.
Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management
o Obtain, compare, and evaluate subcontractor quotations to support client requirements.
o Carry out tendering process for technically complex, high value or contracted projects
o Coordinate and oversee subcontractors to ensure highquality delivery, adherence to programme, specifications, and site requirements.
o Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors.
Commercial & Contractual Control
o Apply knowledge of public works and construction contracts including PWC (e.g., PW5), RIAI Blue Form, and similar contract frameworks.
o Apply required cost control and reporting measures to the project such as Stage claims
o Apply contractual requirements to the project including, programme monitoring, progress reporting, change and variations management and budget management
o Contribute to tendering, scope development, and budget management as required.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
o Ensure projects are delivered to the highest quality standards and meet client expectations.
o Support safety compliance across all project activities, including site inspections and documentation.
o Manage project closeout processes including snagging, documentation, and handover packs.
Additional Suggested Responsibilities
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Projects team.
Represent the Projects team professionally in client and stakeholder meetings
About you:
o A formal project management qualification (e.g., QQI, PMI CAPM/PMP, or equivalent) is desirable and will be considered an advantage; however, it is not essential where candidates can demonstrate strong relevant experience, technical competence, and a proven track record in delivering built environment projects.
o Proficiency with MS Project, Monday.com, or similar project management tools.
o Demonstrated experience delivering projects within the built environment (Small construction, mechanical/electrical, fitout, small civils, or similar).
o Flexibility to travel nationwide and to work primarily from Dublin (60% Dublin area/40% Nationwide).
o Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholdermanagement skills.
o Ability to work independently, make informed decisions, and adapt to changing project demands.
o Experience working on projects in occupied or operational environments.
o Full clean driving licence.
o Able to represent MITIE Projects effectively at both internal and external meetings
o Able to set budget and demonstrate appropriate financial management
o Leads by example in all role activities
o Competent with standard MS office applications
