About the role
We're looking for a commercially sharp Electrical Department Manager & Purchaser to take full ownership of the electrical and appliance side of our superstore, the Euronics business. Electrical is one of our biggest and fastest-growing categories, both on the shop floor and across our nationwide online business, so getting the buying and pricing right is central to the store's success.
This is a role for someone who knows appliances and consumer electronics, understands how buying groups and supplier promotions work, and can turn sharp buying into strong margin. You'll own the range, the supplier relationships, the pricing, and the department team, and you'll work directly with the directors on promotional and buying strategy.
A genuine work-life balance: no Sunday trading and no late evenings, a real rarity in retail.
Key responsibilities

● Manage our Euronics buying-group relationship and make the most of group terms
● Work supplier promotions and special offer agreements (SOAs) to maximise margin
● Build and manage relationships with brand suppliers (LG, Samsung, Bosch, and others) and negotiate deals

● Protect and grow category margin, monitoring competitor pricing
● Identify and act on negative-margin or underperforming lines
● Own the electrical department's sales and margin targets
RANGE & CATEGORY
● Plan the range and select products in line with demand and market trends
● Support the online business with product, pricing, and promotional input, feeding into the directors' digital operation
TEAM & FLOOR
● Supervise and develop electrical department staff and product specialists
● Drive strong product knowledge, merchandising, and customer service standards on the electrical floor
● Support the wider store team as part of the senior on-site management group

● Commercial acumen: confident with pricing, margin management, and promotional planning
● Supplier negotiation: proven ability to secure and manage good terms

● Systems-comfortable: confident with EPOS, stock systems, and pricing data / spreadsheets
● Team leadership: experience supervising and developing a department team
● Communication: clear, positive communication with suppliers, colleagues, and customers
DESIRABLE
● Experience working within a buying group (Euronics, Topline, or similar)
● An interest in AI and automation, and how they can improve store and online operations
