Health, Safety & Environment & Manager Operations
The EHS Manager supports the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in the efficient management and administration of the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System (HSEMS). This role provides daily support across both active sites and corporate operations, ensuring all EHS and Training requirements are met while maintaining direct engagement with the workforce and subcontractors. The HSET advisor also helps promote a proactive safety culture and ensures compliance with statutory, client, and company standards.

Director of Environmental Health and Safety
HSE Management System Administration
- Assist in the maintenance and implementation of Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Systems in accordance with ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and related standards.
- Stay informed of updated Codes of Practice and new safety publications; distribute relevant information appropriately.
- Prepare, update, and display safety communications, notices, and posters.
- Organise internal and external training for renewals and project-specific requirements.
Site Inspections and Monitoring
- Support supervisors/managers in completing the Weekly EHS Scorecard.
- Assist in closing out all EHS and training actions.
- Complete Site Audits as per schedule
Workforce Engagement
- Organise site inductions, toolbox talks, and task-specific safety briefings.
- Promote workforce participation in hazard reporting, near-miss reporting, and Safety Observation Reports (SOR).
- Contribute to building a safety culture where injury prevention, proactive reporting, and adherence to best practice are core values.
- Maintain a database of risk assessments (RA) and method statements (MS) as required.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to operatives and supervisors to encourage safe behaviour and accurate reporting.
Incident and Emergency Response
- Support incident and near-miss investigations, including collection of evidence, witness statements, and participation in root-cause analysis.
- Ensure all incidents are reported promptly and accurately.
- Assist with emergency drills and preparedness activities as directed by the Project HSE Manager.
Contractor and Subcontractor Coordination
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with APC’s HSE Management System.
- Support APC and subcontractor supervisors/HSE personnel in implementing safe systems of work.
Environmental Controls
- Assist in monitoring environmental controls including dust suppression, waste management, and spill prevention.
- Supports the Managers with environmental incidents or non-compliances
Reporting and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, inductions, toolbox talks, and safety observations.
- Provide daily and weekly updates to the EHS Director.
- Support the collection and consolidation of HSE data for project performance reporting.
Continuous Improvement
- Share lessons learned and best practices with site teams.
- Participate in HSE campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.
Training
- Identify training needs through consultation with managers, supervisors, and HR.
- Develop and maintain an annual training plan and schedule.
- Coordinate internal and external training programmes, ensuring availability of trainers, venues, and materials.
- Ensure training aligns with company objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Ensure all mandatory and regulatory training requirements are met (e.g., safety training, technical competencies).
- Verify and file trainer credentials, training provider approvals, and subcontractor training documentation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate training compliance data.
