Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Inspector to join our team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all fabrication and welding activities comply with customer specifications, applicable industry standards and internal quality management procedures.
This role is integral to maintaining the high standards expected of our ISO 9001 and EN 1090 certified manufacturing facility and offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to continuous quality improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out in-process and final inspections of stainless steel and carbon steel fabrications to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Inspect welded fabrications for dimensional accuracy, workmanship and compliance with applicable welding standards.
- Identify, document and report non-conformances, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Verify material traceability and ensure all inspection and quality documentation is complete and accurately maintained.
- Maintain inspection records, quality reports and traceability documentation in accordance with ISO 9001& EN 1090 and company procedures.
- Work closely with production personnel to ensure quality requirements are understood and achieved without compromising production efficiency.
- Support internal quality audits, external customer audits and certification body inspections.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of quality systems, inspection processes and manufacturing practices.
- Promote a strong culture of quality, safety and continuous improvement throughout the workshop.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a Quality Inspector role within a stainless steel, carbon steel or structural steel fabrication environment.
- Experience inspecting welded fabrications and fabricated assemblies.
- Good understanding of welding processes including TIG, MIG/MAG and associated fabrication techniques.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and EN 1090 requirements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, weld symbols and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping and documentation skills.
- Competent in using standard inspection and measuring equipment.
Desirable Skills
- Visual Welding Inspection (VT) qualification.
- Additional Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications such as:
- Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Knowledge of welding standards such as ISO 3834 and EN ISO 5817.
- Experience supporting CE marking compliance under EN 1090.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
