We are seeking an Executive Planner / Planning Consultant (3-7 years' experience) to support the continued growth of our renewable energy planning team in Ireland. This role focuses on the delivery of Irish and UK renewable energy planning applications. The successful candidate will support project delivery, planning strategy, and knowledge-sharing across the team.
This is a delivery-focused role offering genuine ownership, exposure to complex renewable energy projects, and the opportunity to help shape and grow Galetech's planning capability. You will be mentored by our senior leadership team, who bring more than 20 years' experience in renewable energy planning, and supported by a 160-strong workforce across the Galetech Group's business units.
About the role:

Support and manage planning applications for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and BESS.

Contribute to planning strategy across projects, ensuring consistency and best practice.

Coordinate with local authorities, statutory consultees, landowners, and other stakeholders.

Prepare and review planning reports, planning statements, environmental screening and scoping reports, and supporting documentation.

Monitor and interpret planning and environmental policy, advising project teams accordingly.

Support project programming, workload management, and delivery across the planning team.

Collaborate with colleagues across Galetech Energy Services and the wider Galetech Group on multi-disciplinary projects.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a professionally qualified planner with experience in Irish or UK planning consultancy and a track record of supporting the delivery of planning applications. Direct renewable energy experience is an advantage, but we welcome strong planners from transport, infrastructure, water, urban development, and related sectors who are keen to build a career in renewables.
Essential requirements:

An IPI and/or RTPI-accredited planning qualification, or demonstrable eligibility for membership.

A relevant third-level qualification in planning or a related discipline.

3-7 years' experience in the planning and development of projects.

A strong understanding of the Irish or UK planning system, policy, and consenting procedures.

Experience contributing to the delivery of planning applications within a consultancy, developer, or local authority environment.

High-quality report-writing, analytical, and organisational skills, with confident engagement with planning authorities and statutory consultees.

A collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Full clean driving licence and access to own transport.

Direct experience in renewable energy development (wind, solar PV, or battery storage).

Experience of public consultation and stakeholder engagement.
