The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for leading the daily care, learning and development of children within the preschool room. The Lead Educator provides a safe, nurturing, inclusive and stimulating environment and leads high-quality early years practice in accordance with the service’s policies, the Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016, Tusla requirements and relevant national early years frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and evaluate a child-centred, play-based curriculum based on children's interests, abilities and developmental needs.
- Lead the day-to-day organisation and practice of the preschool/ECCE room.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, language, cognitive and creative development.
- Observe children's learning and development and maintain appropriate observations, learning records and documentation.
- Lead and support Early Years Educators working within the room, including delegation of duties, modelling good practice and providing guidance.
- Work collaboratively with the Manager/Person in Charge and other team members and assist with preparation for Tusla and Department of Education inspections.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR and the service's policies and procedures.
Qualifications Required
- Candidates should hold a recognised Early Learning and Care qualification appropriate to their position and meet current regulatory requirements. A QQI Level 6/7 or equivalent is essential for this role.
- Candidates should also demonstrate strong knowledge of child development and current Tusla Regulations.
Pay: €17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 per week
