The Kitchen Porter is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the kitchen by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation. The role is essential in ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly by keeping equipment, utensils and work areas clean and assisting the catering team with general kitchen duties as required.

Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment using commercial dishwashing equipment.

Maintain a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.

Clean food preparation areas, work surfaces, floors, walls and storage areas in accordance with cleaning schedules.

Empty bins and dispose of waste and recycling safely and efficiently.

Assist with receiving, checking and storing deliveries.

Support stock rotation using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.

Assist the Chef and Catering Team with basic food preparation when required.

Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored and used safely in accordance with COSHH and company procedures.

Report any equipment faults, maintenance issues or health and safety concerns promptly.

Follow all Food Safety, HACCP and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Assist with setting up and closing down the kitchen each day.

Support the wider catering team during busy service periods.

Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by the Catering Manager or Head Chef.
