About the Role
Our client, a leading multinational organisation, is seeking an experienced Category Manager to join their procurement team. This role will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, leading sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and delivering commercial value across strategic spend areas.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will play a key role in driving cost optimisation, supplier performance, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement category strategies aligned with business objectives.

Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including RFIs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and negotiations.

Identify and deliver cost savings, value creation, and supply chain improvement opportunities.

Manage supplier performance through regular reviews, scorecards, and continuous improvement plans.

Support contract negotiation, execution, and compliance in partnership with internal stakeholders.

Monitor market trends and supplier risks to inform sourcing decisions and mitigate potential issues.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Operations, Legal, and other key stakeholders.

Ensure adherence to procurement policies, governance requirements, and responsible sourcing practices.
Experience Required

Proven experience in Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, or Procurement.

Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.

Demonstrated success delivering measurable commercial value and cost savings.

Excellent analytical, stakeholder management, and communication abilities.

Experience operating within a fast-paced, complex business environment.
Desirable

Experience within a multinational manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.

ERP experience, ideally SAP.

Knowledge of supplier risk management and sustainable procurement practices.

CIPS qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
Education
-
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline.

Professional procurement qualifications are advantageous.
