Job Title: Social Care Manager — Children's Residential Care
Location: Carlow Town, Co. Carlow
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: €59,000 – €67,000 per annum (DOE)

Tír na nÓg Care is a children's residential care provider based in Carlow Town, referred through Tusla – Child and Family Agency, supporting young people aged 13–17. Our focus is on providing care, stability, and a trauma-informed environment that gives young people the foundation they need to thrive.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Social Care Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the residential centre. This is a senior management role suited to someone who has already managed a children's residential service and is ready to lead a centre in its entirety. Experienced managers seeking and ready for progression to regional and operational roles as the organisation grows are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the full day-to-day operation and management of the residential centre
- Lead, supervise, and develop the Team Leaders, Social/Residential Care Workers, and Support Workers
- Hold full responsibility for compliance with Tusla ACIMS standards, National Standards for Children's Residential Centres, and Children First
- Oversee care planning, placement plans, risk assessments, and incident management across the service
- Manage rostering, budgets, and resource allocation for the centre
- Act as the key point of liaison with Tusla, social workers, families, schools, healthcare providers, and other external agencies
- Participate in an on-call rota
- Lead on continuous quality improvement and inspection readiness across the service
Requirements
- QQI Level 7/8 Social Care qualification, or a relevant qualification, with a minimum of 4 years' experience in social care
- Minimum 2 years' direct centre management experience in children's residential care
- Enrolled in, or holding, a management qualification suitable for a health or social care setting
- Sound knowledge of trauma-informed and child-centred care models
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills
Desirable
- TCI (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention) certification
- Manual Handling certification
- First Aid Responder (FAR) certification
- Full clean driving licence
