Psychology is a growing profession within the National Maternity Hospital. Psychology services centre on meeting the psychological needs of patients and their families in the context of their physical and/ or mental health conditions with the primary aims of improving health outcomes for patients, reducing psychological distress, and enhancing overall wellbeing and quality of life. The hospital currently has a principal specialist clinical psychologist attached to the perinatal mental health team and a senior clinical psychologist attached to the neonatal department – neurodevelopmental followup team. We are in the process of expanding our neonatal psychology inpatient service. We offer services in the areas of perinatal mental health, neonatal psychology follow-up and endometriosis care.
This is a permanent, 0.5WTE contract of employment The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum of five years’ satisfactory postgraduate experience in the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.
- A recognised professional qualification in Clinical Psychology (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent)
- Registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI)
- Experience working in the area of neurodevelopmental followup of high-risk infants as part of a clinical service in an acute hospital/community setting
- Proficiency in performing the Bayley 4 and other relevant assessment tools is necessary
- Knowledge of infant and toddler development and parenttoddler relationships
- Mandatory adoption of and compliance with CORU
