We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Education Specialist (Pre School/Early Intervention) to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver our established Early Intervention and School Readiness programmes for children aged approximately 2.5 to 6 years.
The successful candidate will facilitate a minimum of two weekly groups (2 hours per group) during school term time, supporting children through structured, play-based learning experiences that promote communication, learning, independence, social skills, motor development and school readiness.
Classes are small, typically comprising approximately five children, and are supported by dedicated Support Workers and volunteers.
This position may be combined with additional opportunities within Hub 21, including School Age Education Programmes, Holiday Camps and Teen Social Programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, evidence-based preschool and early intervention programmes.
- Promote communication, language, early literacy, numeracy and learning skills through play-based activities.
- Support children's social, emotional, sensory and motor development.
- Adapt activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Monitor and document children's progress.
- Collaborate with families and Hub 21 staff to support each child's development.
- Contribute to programme planning, resource development and continuous improvement.
- Promote inclusive practice and high expectations for all children.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should hold a Level 8 qualification in one or more of the following areas:
- Special Education
- Early Childhood Education
- Primary Education
- Speech & Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Educational Psychology
- Other relevant developmental, educational or therapeutic disciplines
In addition, candidates should have:
- A minimum of one year's experience working with children.
- Knowledge of child development and evidence-based educational approaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working collaboratively with families and professionals.
- A commitment to creating a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with children with Down syndrome and/or additional needs.
- Experience delivering group programmes.
- Knowledge of See and Learn, Numicon, Handwriting Without Tears or similar educational approaches.
- Lámh training (or willingness to complete training).
- Registration with the Teaching Council of Ireland.
- Experience in early intervention and school readiness programmes.
