Key responsibilities:
- Review client enquiries, specifications, drawings, asset information, and maintenance reports.
- Attend sites to survey existing M&E services and establish the scope of work.
- Prepare estimates for labour, materials, plant, access equipment, subcontractors, overheads, and profit.
- Obtain and assess supplier and specialist subcontractor quotations.
- Produce detailed quotations with clear scopes, assumptions, exclusions, and programme allowances.
- Price planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, remedial works, and minor projects.
- Develop technical solutions with engineers, supervisors, and specialist contractors.
- Identify compliance requirements, design risks, access restrictions, shutdowns, and out-of-hours working.
- Prepare variations and revised quotations when the scope changes.
- Support handover to project managers and operational teams following contract award.
- Compare estimated costs against actual project performance.
- Maintain current labour rates, supplier pricing, and estimating records.

- Electrical distribution boards and containment
- Lighting, emergency lighting, and power installations
- Fire alarms and life-safety systems
- Data, security, access-control, and other low-voltage systems
- Plant replacement and energy-efficiency upgrades
- Testing, inspection, certification, and compliance remedials
The role normally requires practical knowledge of M&E building services, experience reading drawings and specifications, strong commercial and numerical skills, and proficiency with Excel and estimating or facilities-management systems.
