Senior Electrical Engineer
Tetra Tech is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, High Voltage (HV) in Dublin. Power the transition. Shape critical infrastructure. Lead high-voltage design that matters.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
Join the Power and Utilities team in Dublin and take ownership of high-voltage electrical design across a portfolio of strategic infrastructure projects in Ireland. This is a hands-on technical role spanning the full design lifecycle, from feasibility and concept through to detailed design, technical reporting and construction support. You will develop robust, compliant and buildable solutions for substations, cable routes, grid reinforcement and renewable energy connections, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to support Ireland’s evolving energy network.
Your Impact in this position
You will play a key role in delivering technically complex HV projects, providing clear engineering leadership and helping drive solutions that are practical, efficient and future-focused. Alongside managing selected projects, you will build strong stakeholder relationships, support junior engineers and graduates, and contribute directly to the delivery of major programmes with long-term impact.
High Voltage Design Expertise
- You bring strong HV design capability and can produce and review drawings, calculations, specifications and technical reports with confidence. Your experience across substation design, cable routing and electrical infrastructure delivery will help shape solutions that are technically sound and aligned to project requirements.
Infrastructure Planning and Design Integration
- You understand how to bring together engineering, environmental and operational inputs to develop well-considered infrastructure solutions. You can assess constraints, test options and integrate design information across disciplines to support practical and buildable outcomes.
Stakeholder Communication and Technical Influence
- You are comfortable engaging with both technical specialists and non-technical audiences. You can translate complex engineering matters into clear advice, influence decisions and help resolve competing priorities to arrive at the best overall solution.
Project Delivery and Professional Accountability
- You take ownership of your work and deliver to time, cost and quality expectations. You are organised, safety-focused and comfortable managing multiple priorities, while maintaining strong technical assurance and progress reporting throughout the design process.
Leadership, Mentoring and Continuous Development
- You bring a collaborative mindset and can support the development of junior engineers and graduates. You are proactive, work well with limited supervision and are committed to expanding your expertise through ongoing learning and professional growth.
Training, Qualifications and Experience
A degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally Level 8 or equivalent, is essential, alongside at least five years’ relevant experience in HV design and infrastructure projects. Chartered Engineer status is desirable, with support available for those working towards it. A full clean driving licence and strong Microsoft Office skills are required.
Working Environment
This is a Dublin-based hybrid role, with a minimum of two days per week in the office and the remainder worked flexibly in line with project and business needs. Some travel to project locations may be required, along with occasional client and site meetings.
